Whitney Houston

Standing up for yourself and saying it like it is still has an uneasiness to it. I would like to be totally honest and express thoughts and feelings in a way that is true to me but how often isn't impossible to get it out there unattached to emotions and reactions. Effects are bound to enter in unwanted places and need to be dealt with before they become a story on their own. Something you initially wanted to prevent by being honest.
There are those who are able to be blunt and untethered and seemingly genuine but as a hyper-sensitive personality I always wonder what's behind their facade. Is it possible to just not care because the respective antenna is too short to pick up the vibe? Is mine too long..
Sensing the atmosphere and reading into it can be a tricky talent if you are unaware of the boundaries. How true can one be anyway?  In search of who we are we all give it our best shot in persueing the happinez we crave but how often do we wander in spite of ourselves?
Yet another troubled soul who was greatly gifted could not be true to herself and share her splendour in her own way. Having a singer daughter who used 'I will always love you' as her voice warm-up the specific song Whitney Houston is famous for has an intricate meaning to me. We really need to take better care of who we are,  starting with freeing ourselves from everything that is irrelevant and unworthy of the purest and most virtuous beings that we have always been meant to be. Listen to I will always love from another perspective, one that will resonate deep within your own soul and receive the love for YOU.

Snow magic

Is it the blanket of snow and the deafening of the noise or the reflection of light that the fresh layer of crystalline whiteness makes people calmer and more at ease? Not all though; those stuck in traffic or waiting for delayed trains and planes have less peacefulness about them. But taking a walk in the transformed landscape witnessing frozen time and friendly faces that otherwise pass you by ignorantly, makes you wonder... snow as an angelic veil comforting us. Ice too, adding to the fun, especially here in the Netherlands where skating is a national trade. Days ahead of the weather forecast reporting low temperatures the Dutch dive into their storage to find ice skates, sleds and other gear to prepare for long cold but fulfilling tours on the frozen rivers and lakes. Happy people all at once. Forgotten are worries and troubles because now is now, when the ice and snow are here. It can be a short while so take it while you can. I remember long cold winters but they've become rare. Escaping from the grey and damp that life can look like shouldn't need a snow storm to cheer us up but it does, magically!

Peaceful waters

Her suitcases packed and more than ready to go back to where she feels at home after a five week break my eldest daughter is being flown back to LA by her dad. It was most likely her last visit to the Netherlands staying in our house and it is definitely the last time to be able to sit up front with her father at the controls. All geared up to make the next move in the music business. It was good to have her home for a while and time to let go again.
So much is going on with everyone. Grownup kids coming and going, taking what they need including much of my time and attention but also my car and cash...When they're in their twenties the ease with which you handle it all is clearly diminishing. I can feel the energy out-pour versus in-take is out of whack. No one but me of course is to blame and it all has to do with the empty nest syndrome. I love having my kids around and thoroughly enjoy their stories but I can't seem to keep the balance in order. Taking time to be me, claiming my own space, wow, a challenge it is! Even though I will miss the rustle and bustle and taking care of everything I dare to say I long for some quiet time to gather my thoughts and make my own plans. A pause from worrying is a welcoming idea. So in preparation for the next waves I immerse myself in peaceful waters.

Generations

When a grandmother turns 80 years old and most of the grandchildren are all grown up, the next generation makes it's way to the top. Preparing for the celebration they start to take on the role of their parents in presenting the surprises. Many guests whom you only encounter at such milestone events remind us of the passing of the years as they, more than we, see the growth of the family's next generation. Stuck in the middle are we, the parents, anxiously conscious of our diminishing power but very proud to see who we are through the presence of our children.
Not every grandparent will appreciate a grand party with a gathering of past and present friends attending but the mirroring effect is quite astounding. The bond between a grandmother and her grandchildren expressed in words and deeds is a fulfilling experience and a job well done.

Intentions

A New Year is often used for resolutions and I have always been reluctant about it as I fail to see that the beginning of a year is a perfect time to start with anything. An intention is timeless and saving it for the New Year sounds more like putting it off until then. Start it when it comes up and go for it, I say.
Still, with all the good wishes going around in the holiday season one can take advantage of the flow. I started 'new phase' in December because of my own entrance into the yet unknown but it might be co-incidental. Being aware of your good intentions and letting them interact with the thrust of the New Year mightn't be such a bad thing. 2012 if anything is going to be a year of major change so whatsoever you wish to change i.e. begin, now is the time to do it. Diving in fearlessly.
Listening to webcasts with some inspirational people helps me get into that place of being present and focused; as one of the speakers mentioned, ' being in the present moment is being in the absence of fear'.
Life then is so much more at ease. Not that you should sit back and relax like they say on an airliner although they have a point. Take a breath. Create space, so anything new will have room to enter and unfold. By clearing away the clutter and stuff that no longer serves you, this process will accelerate. Apply it to a diet, quitting a bad habit or relationship issues and your New Year's resolutions have a very good chance of manifesting. As for me I intend from his day forward to be at peace with all my relationships and embrace the changes that come my way. :-)

2012

The magical year of 2012 has arrived. What will it bring and how will it be with everything that has been said and published about the end of an era? It may be a bumpy ride still for a while to come as we are being shaken and stirred involuntarily or unconsciously and are preparing for a new phase in the history of life on Earth. I believe we have an unimaginable influence on how things turn out.

You may be a follower or not of the Mayan predictions, the fact is that a cycle of 26.000 years comes to an end. How can you escape such numbers and not wonder what it means? We've witnessed plenty of escalating changes the world over in all areas of existence. Climate debates, wars and terrors, economical crises and small scale anguish leading to big stage events like the Arab Spring. Everything happening so much faster than ever before that it makes you think that the Mayans had something going on with their Higher Knowledge. The Mayan temples are all built as symbols of time; each level representing a period of time, moving upward the stories become smaller symbolizing a quickening of time. We all feel that as we somewhat ignorantly say things like ' it feel like yesterday when I was decorating the Christmas tree' or 'time flies' ...you hear it more and more. Technology is a great example of how time is speeding up. Can you imagine not having a cell phone or computer when it has only been 2 decades that we are using them. But that's not all, the changes we are going through go much deeper. As we are oozed into a higher level of consciousness preparing for the unfolding of the Golden Age many can feel turned inside out and upside down. Young children are already ahead of us in many ways. Their brains and bodies are better attuned to the higher frequency in which the Earth is resonating. We will become more and more aware of things that have been hidden and kept secret and thus gain deeper understanding of their meaning.
Let 2012 be a year when we cast away that which no longer serves us and invite the new unknown and abundant possibilities to become who we truly are. I wish you all a Happy New Year!

Christmas

After a 24 hour trip to London there's no way you can escape the Christmas vibe. How is it that in just a few days a large part of the human population lightens up as much as possible; buying gifts and food enough to last for weeks in a frantic state to get everything done in time for .... what exactly? I bet most people aren't even aware of the real meaning of Christmas other than it being the day Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The story has taken us away from the essence of what it really entails.
That is to enter the season of Christmas with the intention of being a personal messenger of light and love, and celebrate in the name of service to Higher Power . At this time in the Northern hemisphere the light returns to earth and so also to our hearts from which a feeling of joy emanates. This raises the vibration and level of consciousness.
Every character in the Nativity Scene metaphorically resides in all of us. The Shepherds, the Wise Men, Joseph, Mary they all symbolize a part of us. We dare to wonder like a child as the Shepherds show; we search to seek wisdom like the fool in the embodiment of the Wise Men. The strong silent Joseph tells of our obedience to what life presents us and Mary, the loving one shows us the way to Christ, the Light.
The ornamented Christmas tree we put up in our homes is the gift of hope and joy. The evergreen fir pointed upward together with the glittering decorations lift our spirits, as re-birthing of the soul and bringer of light.
As we shop for gifts and such to celebrate this Light feast whether you are a Christian, a Muslim, a Hindu or an Atheist let our intentions be to bring peace to the world as a servant of Higher Power. May you all have a Merry Christmas.
